Why not use a general style guide?
Style guides like The Chicago Manual of Style:
Do not address issues specific to technical publications
Provide several acceptable alternatives rather than a single style
Are so large and broad that users may hesitate to use them and may not be able to find what they need
Are not as accessible (online or through co-workers)
